Network Rail has released a stunning timelapse video that charts the Ordall Chord completion.
The completion of the scheme was celebrated last week, with a delegate of officials including Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham walking across part of the bridge.
It is an historical project for the area because the Ordsall Chord completion signals the first time ever that the three main railway stations in Manchester – Piccadilly, Victoria and Oxford Road – are connected.
As the birthplace of modern intercity railways, it is fitting that this development will drive railway transport further into the future.
The first asymmetric rail bridge in the world will reduce congestion at Piccadilly and will ensure services from Manchester are available all over the north of England.
The timelapse video shows the commitment needed to undertake an infrastructure project of this kind, and the achievement in completing it.
