Trough-Tec Systems (TTS)

TTS is the UK supplier of Green Trough - the world’s most versatile cable management system. Used by Network Rail and leading rail infrastructure organisations, it is the genuine replacement for more cumbersome systems.

Made from a 100% recycled polymer, the environmentally friendly and rugged units are designed to carry high voltage power and comms cabling anywhere; horizontally, vertically, at an angle, around an obstruction, along a wall, as a walkway and even in an elevated position. Green Trough will also interface with existing concrete units.

Quick to install, the units are easy-to-handle and light enough for a HSE compliant one-man lift. Green Trough substantially reduces transport and on-site handling costs by delivering significant weight savings compared to other troughing products. Units have built-in anti-vandal and anti-theft features with lockable lids, helping to deter cable theft.

Green Trough provides installers with the most adaptable cable management system available today. Available in six sizes, it includes a diverse range of interchangeable components, including straights, gradients, curves and junctions.

Connecting the units is easy and any trough combination is possible. With a male and female connector moulded into the end of each base unit, no joint grouting is required.

Pan and tilting flexibility in the joints enables a bending angle of 2° to 5° using only straight units where cable routes can form a minimum radius of 13 to 15 metres. Tighter curves can be achieved using the curved units. This functionality allows Green Trough to be easily deployed as a free-standing cable troughing route on uneven surfaces, or effectively installed into various ground types, including ballast, soil, or a combination of the two.

Buckle prevention is engineered into the units. The polymers thermal coefficient of expansion has been determined to design a sacrificial ‘pip’ that is moulded into the female connector. In extreme temperatures, these ‘pips’ absorb any expansion that might occur without distorting the trough route.

As a proven product, Green Trough benefits from over 20 years of conclusive test results and usage reports. These include: durability, weather resistance, extreme temperature change, loading, impact, wind/vibration resistance, flame retardancy, expansion tolerances, UV resistance and anti-static performance.

The TTS Anti-Slip Walkway system

The TTS Anti-Slip Walkway system is designed to provide a hard wearing and safe surface for troughing routes where a low to zero maintenance walkway is required.

Comprised of two TTS 300 series units (the equivalent of two x C/1/29 concrete troughs) joined together in parallel pairs, the walkway forms a 780 mm wide surface. Steel straps are bolted to the underside and securely hold the units in position. Easily assembled by a two-man team, the durable walkway system offers significant on-site benefits and cost savings compared to traditional separate cable and walkway systems.

The TTS elevated system

The TTS elevated system is designed to provide an above ground level cable management solution.

Comprised of galvanised steel posts concreted into the ground at regular intervals, with ladders and horizontal bends bolted to brackets suspended from the posts, the Green Trough units sit on the ladders to form a continuous run. Posts will carry one, or up to four cable trough routes. Simple to install, the elevated system has been developed for use with the TTS 90, TTS 150 and TTS 200 series.

TTS engineers have developed a range of accessories that provide more scope for customisation on-site. These include:

  • Transition units for interfacing with concrete troughs.
  • Integrated side and slotted panels for cables that need to branch off at any point.
  • End-caps that seal the line of units and prevent access by small animals.

Proven quality, durability & flexibility

Green Trough units are perfect for adaption to a wide range of individual projects. Proven in the global rail industry for its unique benefits, Green Trough is now being widely used across many other market sectors, from nuclear power stations to solar wind farms and from highways to water treatment plants.

Fast and simple to install without the need for special lifting tools or equipment, Green Trough can be quickly modified on site using basic hand tools without creating smoke or dust.

By keeping things simple, TTS helps organisations solve troughing problems effectively. Arriving in kit form on a pallet, with all the units you need to complete the job, Green Trough truly is the state-of-the-art solution for cable route management.

From design to delivery, our configuration team has built an unrivalled depth of knowledge and experience and will work with you to find the most cost effective deployment for your project. We can even design bespoke units for specific cabling challenges. CAD drawings are available for all of our systems on request.
