The Autumn Conference for the Road Haulage Association (RHA) will take place in October, giving the industry the chance to network and discuss the pressing issues that businesses face.
Held at Birmingham’s National Conference Centre on Thursday 11th October, the conference will include a number of talks throughout the day, which starts at 8:30am and end with the closing summary of key findings at 3:30pm.
During that time, the Chief Executive of the RHA, Richard Burnett, will deliver a keynote speech about the industry’s challenges; elsewhere, representatives from the Department for Transport (DfT), Highways England, Defra and Michelin are just some of those who will lead seminars and talks.
The Autumn Conference allows those in attendance to learn about compliance, regulation and enforcement issues from industry decision makers; live debates will take place on clean air policies and road congestion issues; representatives from the transport industry will be able to network with each other and share best practice ideas.
And Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours can be obtained at the Autumn Conference, awarded by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).
At the conference, Highways England will discuss Road Investment Strategy 2, the DfT will talk about the future of roads; a round table debate will take place where the cost of congestion will be the chief topic of discussion.
With the government attempting to implement its Clean Air Strategy, the impact on hauliers could be substantial. As such, a further round table debate will be be chaired in the afternoon to discuss clean air and the environment.
Elsewhere, with Brexit on the horizon, the RHA has been very vocal in the industry’s needs in terms of staff and the worries of how a no-deal Brexit will affect haulage.
This, and other associated issues will be tackled in a Brexit update, and the whole day at the Autumn Conference is a key opportunity for many in the transport sector to find out about the pressing issues facing their businesses.
