Rail Minister Andrew Jones will deliver keynote speech at Railtex

The Rail Minister, Andrew Jones MP, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for Railtex 2019.

Taking place between 14 – 16 May at the NEC in Birmingham, Railtex 2019 will showcase the very best in railway equipment, systems and services.

In the weeks and months leading up to the three-day event, Railtex has unveiled the topics which will be focused on, with digital, innovation and education set to take centre stage.

An impressive programme of speakers from key areas of the rail industry will be at the exhibition, and this has been boosted even further by the news that Rail Minister, Andrew Jones MP, will provide the event’s keynote speech.

He will speak on 15 May at 10.30am at the Future Focus Conference, which is contained within the exhibition and has been organised by the Railway Industry Association (RIA).

The Conference will explore key challenges and opportunities faced in the UK rail industry in the next few years.

The Rail Minister, Andrew Jones MP, will be joined at the Conference by speakers and senior representatives from Crossrail 2, High Speed Rail Industry Leaders, Digital Railway, the Rail Freight Group, and many more.

Andrew Jones held the role of Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport (DfT) between May 2015 and June 2017.

And after taking up another government position, he returned to the DfT as Rail Minister in November 2018.

The Exhibition Manager for Railtex, Natalia Charman, said: “We are very much looking forward to welcoming the Rail Minister to Railtex.

“The rail industry is of huge importance to the UK’s economy and as such, our exhibition has always received great backing from the government and the Department for Transport.

“It will be important and beneficial for the attendees to hear from one of the rail industry’s most influential political figures, who is responsible for projects including Crossrail 2, Northern Powerhouse Rail and the security of our railways.”
