Crossrail release footage of artwork installation at Paddington station

Crossrail has released a video that shows the installation of art work onto the 120 metre long canopy at Paddington.

The video contains footage and timelapse of the first work of art being integrated at the Elizabeth line, which has now seen the first panes of glass installed, continuing its progress towards its December 2018 opening.

Once completed, approximately 25 million passengers each year will use the Paddington Elizabeth line station and the Crossrail team has long-since planned to make the stations stand out.

This is happening thanks to the Crossrail Art Programme, which will see major works of public art integrated into many Elizabeth line stations to reflect the communities they are situated in, as well as the ambition of this major infrastructure development.

The video shows the integration of the glass panels above Paddington, as well as timelapse footage of the assembly of the station’s canopy steel structure.
