Chief Operating Officer named as part of series of appointments by HS2 Ltd

HS2 Ltd has made a series of appointments including hiring a new Chief Operating Officer, the company has announced.

Following on from the news that Sir Terry Morgan CBE will become the organisation’s new Chairman at the start of August, HS2 Ltd has confirmed that Richard Robinson will join from AECOM to take the reigns of Chief Operating Officer, assisting Mark Thurston, Chief Executive, as the delivery of Europe’s largest infrastructure project gathers pace.

Richard’s previous experience as the Chief Executive of Civil Infrastructure in Europe, Middle East, India and Africa will be invaluable to HS2 Ltd; at AECOM, he made a huge difference to the business, leading the growth of its civil infrastructure arm, directly impacting a range of infrastructure projects.

HS2 Ltd has announced a number of projects as part of the development in recent months, including the green corridor, new rolling stock depot and Toton station investment.

And the company’s new Chief Operating Officer is “thrilled” at this new role.

He said: “I am thrilled to be joining the team at HS2 Ltd. Working on Europe’s largest infrastructure programme is an exciting prospect and I look forward to playing my part in a project that will leave a significant legacy here in the UK.”

Elsewhere, the company has confirmed that a new Chief Financial Officer has been appointed, with Michael Bradley joining from Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) – a body belonging to the Ministry of Defence – where he served as CFO and Director General Resources.

Mark Thurston commented: “Michael is an excellent addition to the HS2 Ltd team and brings a wealth of experience with him to this important role.

“HS2 is a hugely important project that will leave a significant economic legacy here in the UK and it is imperative that we have the best people in place to deliver our ambitions.”
